Youth Health Centre Coordinator

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is the largest provider of health services in Nova Scotia.  We are over 22,000 employees who provide health care and support services in hospitals, health centres and community-based programs throughout Nova Scotia.

Nova Scotia Health Authority provides health services to Nova Scotians and some specialized services to Maritimers and Atlantic Canadians. We operate hospitals, health centres and community-based programs across the province. Our team of health professionals includes employees, doctors, researchers, learners and volunteers that provide the health care or services you may need. This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.



The R.N. practices within the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia, CRNNS Standards of Practice for Registered Nurses and the Canadian Nurses’ Association Code of Ethics, is responsible and accountable for the primary health care of adolescents utilizing a population health and a youth centered approach.  It is essential to work utilizing a collaborative approach with colleagues, community agencies and departments to ensure the health needs of youth are met.  Providing health promotion and prevention activities are key to enhancement of youth health.    Some Travel required.


* Registered with the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia (CRNNS)

* B.Sc.N. or B.N

* CPR Certification or BCLS –C

* Minimum of two (2) years nursing experience

* Experience working in a youth health centre

* Knowledge of primary health care, population health and a youth centered approach

* Ability to work with minimum supervision on a consultative basis within an intersectoral health care team

* Ability to provide ongoing program evaluation

* Evidence of ongoing relevant education

* Demonstrated teaching ability, public speaking and presentation skills

* Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet and PowerPoint

* Good attendance and work record, and physical ability to perform the duties of the position

* Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation

* Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
