The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority –Stanton  Territorial Hospital (NTHSSA)  is offering challenging nursing work and work life balance.  Join our health care team as a Registered Nurse (RN).   Stanton Territorial Hospital (STH) is a 100 in-patient bed accredited facility, located in Yellowknife Northwest Territories (NWT). STH is the referral center for approximately 43,000 NWT residents and 5,900 residents from the Kitikmeot Region of Nunavut. STH provides health care services to adults and children on an inpatient/outpatient and outreach basis in order to restore health with dignity.  STH maintains a tobacco free environment within the building and throughout the property, recognizing the health hazards associated with tobacco in the workplace, both to smokers and non-smokers alike.  Therefore, Stanton maintains a tobacco free environment within the building and throughout the property.

Job Information

The Registered Nurse, Specialist Clinic is a member of the nursing team who provides direct nursing care to patients both before and after procedures being performed in the Medical Clinic and acts as a patient advocate, facilitating communication between the patient, family and the physician, specialists and other health care professionals.  This will result in a holistic approach to planning, organizing, teaching, and relationship development that will best meet the needs of the patient.  The Clinic Nurse will participate in and assist the physicians with minor medical procedures within the Clinic (i.e. biopsies).

Located at either the Medical Clinic within Stanton or off site at the Stanton Medical Centre, and reporting directly to the Manager, Clinical Services, the Clinic Nurse is one of 5 Clinic Nurses in the Clinical Services division that has approximately 10,000 patient visits per year.  The Clinic Nurse is responsible for providing nursing and medical administrative functions for one or more specialty programs.  These programs include but are not limited to:

Physician Specialists – General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Orthopedics, Nephrology, Pediatrics and Otorhinolaryngology.

Visiting Specialists – Anesthesiology, Dermatology, Gynecological Oncology, Infertility, Neurology, Orthopedics, Pediatric Cardiology, Pediatric Orthopedics, Rheumatology, and Urology.

This level of knowledge is commonly acquired through the successful completion of a Nursing Diploma and two years recent experience within a general nursing area.



 Eligibility for current registration/certification with the Registered Nurses Association for the Northwest Territories and Nunavut is mandatory for this position.

Immunization Status

The successful candidate will be required to obtain proof of current up-to-date immunization status.


Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.


Salary Information

The salary range for this position is from $40.85 per hour to $48.77 per hour (approximately $79,658 – $95,102) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,450.


Eligibility lists may be created from this competition to fill future term and indeterminate positions.
