Job Summary:
The Physiotherapist I, as part of the ACH site wide Physiotherapy Services, ensures the level of clinical practice on the assigned clinical service area is family/client-centered and meets Physiotherapy clinical standards of practice.  The Physiotherapy I utilizes primary activities of assessment, treatment, education and follow-up to reach identified goals.  Supervision of the clinical practice of students and assistants is required.  Participation on program/clinic committees is expected.  A Physiotherapy I receives guidance, mentoring, and leadership appropriate to his/her level of experience.  This position currently provides primary support to the Inpatient Neuro and Oncology children but will support the work of the Inpatient team in all areas as needed.  The Physiotherapist may be required to support other program components and/or work with other population ages and groups based on identified need within the site including the Child Development Center. Some weekend work is required.
Formal  Education:
– Bachelor or Masters degree from a recognized Physiotherapy Program
– Licensed by the Alberta College of  Physiotherapists to practice in Physiotherapy
– Membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association preferred
– Minimum 2 years experience working in a clinical environment required
– Experience working in pediatric setting required or combination of equivalent experience and training
– Current BCLS-HCP certificationKnowledge, Skills, Abilities:
– Knowledge and understanding of pediatric conditions, experience with neurological and musculoskeletal an asset
– Knowledge of oncology rehabilitation preferred – pediatrics is an asset
– AADL authorization required for some services ie:  Seating Services
– Knowledge of patient and family centered care practice models
– Knowledge of tertiary rehabilitation service delivery
– Knowledge of community resources
– Demonstrates ability to work within a collaborative interdisciplinary team
– Demonstrates ability to practice in a client/family centered environment
– Demonstrates effective clinical reasoning skills
– Demonstrates effective problem-solving skills
– Demonstrates initiative, adaptability and flexibility to meet varying clinical and operational needs
– Demonstrates effective planning, organization and time management skills
– Demonstrates effective interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
– Demonstrates effective group facilitation skills
