Orthopaedic Technician

Job Summary:
Under the direct supervision  of the  Unit Manager, the Registered  Orthopedic Technician utilizes expert comprehensive skills to assess, plan and coordinate the evaluation  of the patient using nursing knowledge and application and removal of casts, splints and traction apparatus. The incumbent will provide quality patient care through implementation, coordination, consultation, education and liaising with the interdisciplinary team. The Registered Orthopedic  Technician acts as a resource to other health care professionals and is an active participant  in ongoing development and evaluation  of the Orthopedic Program.
– Graduate of a Practical Nursing program or recognized equivalent required.
– Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) required.
– Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.
– Three years of related experience preferred.
– Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.
– Proven problem solving and critical thinking skills required.
