The university’s Faculty of Nursing includes the Department of Nursing Science that offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) degree; the Department of Psychiatric Nursing that offers a Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing (BPN), and a Psychiatric Nursing Diploma; as well as two centres. The Centre for Professional Nursing Education offers a mosaic of innovative continuing education programs grounded in evidence-based practice and responsive to a dynamic health care environment. The Clinical Simulation Centre (CSC) is 27,000 square feet of authentic clinical spaces that set the stage for students to practice skills and employ critical thinking in a realistic learning environment.

Registered Psychiatric Nurses (RPN) are invited to apply for this exciting new position as a Clinical Placement Coordinator (CPC) with the Department of Psychiatric Nursing (DPN). The CPC will be based out of one of the two MacEwan Psychiatric Nursing Program campuses; either in Edmonton or Ponoka. The Psychiatric Nursing Diploma Program is a dynamic two and one half year program, delivered at both campuses. Program graduates may also further their studies through the university’s post-diploma Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing.

Reporting to the Chair of the DPN, the CPC supports the DPN with clinical placement coordination, clinical agency and program evaluation, and student progression in collaboration with external stakeholders; administrative personnel; faculty; level facilitators and the Chair. This position will initially focus on support of clinical-based learning across the entire program and its sites. This individual will meet regularly with clinical placement providers and coordinators across the province to facilitate the establishment of new clinical learning opportunities and foster the enhancement of current clinical placement partnerships.

Candidates must hold a baccalaureate degree in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing or Nursing and have at least three years of current nursing practice within psychiatric/mental health settings. A graduate degree in Psychiatric Nursing, Nursing or related field is preferred. The successful candidate will also have enthusiasm for teaching, an appreciation for inter-professional collaboration, solid psychiatric nursing and general nursing knowledge, as well as strong interpersonal and organizational skills. A willingness to travel between program campuses and to rural/distance clinical placement agencies is required. Licensure or eligibility for licensure with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta is also required. Previous teaching experience, especially clinical supervision in a nursing education program, would be an asset.

This position is for a full-time appointment as a Professional Resource Faculty member (as per the MacEwan University Faculty Collective Agreement).

The position start date is negotiable.
